Deconstructing two different magazine covers

These two magazine covers have a lot of similarities and differences. The Vibe magazine follows a lot of the conventions of a magazine as it includes 'The angle of gaze' and a masthead in the top centre. The XXL magazine deviates from the conventions of a common magazine cover as the model is not looking directly into the camera. The masthead is also to the left in the top corner which is different to the Vibe magazine masthead. Both magazines have a colour scheme of 2-3 colours. They also include fonts that are very similar. The anchorage text in the XXL magazine front cover is more obvious and is clear that it relates to the main image, whereas in the Vibe magazine, there isn't really a piece of text that is large enough to represent the main image.

200 word explanation exploring what an article about file-sharing is suggesting.

After reading the Guardian article about file-sharing, I came to a conclusion that the article is suggesting that file-sharing is becoming very popular and is constantly growing. The article says "The data shows just how mainstream filesharing is now. " , which is implying how popular and heavily used file-sharing is. It then goes on to say "... the culprits are your next door neighbours, your relatives, your own kids and perhaps (probably) even you." , which shows that file-sharing is becoming more common. The article also talks about how it would be hard for someone who is so used to downloading music for free to suddenly start paying £11.99 for a CD. It claims that artists make a lot of money from concerts, gigs, merchandise, etc.

Jessie J 'Bourjois' Lipgloss advertisment

My Jessie J 'Bourjois' Lipgloss advertisment. I made this campaign on Photoshop by combining different images of Jessie J together. I split the images as it makes the advertisment look more modern and appealing. It shows both sides of Jessie J, a glamorous side and a more edgy side. I chose the picture with her wearing a bright pink lipgloss as it matches the Bourjois lipgloss branding, it stands out as it is a vibrant colour and it is the same colour as the Bourjois brand. I decided to include the popular 'JessieJ' font as this shows her brand aswell as the other brand and it is able to catch the eye of other Jessie J fans. This is an example of cross-media convergence and synergy as it is two different companies coming together to promote the same thing which is the lipgloss. The target audience would be for young females who are interested in this form of make-up. This would also allow Jessie J to have a wider audience and it would also benefit the brand.
